A letter from our founder…

Dear Rise Run Retreat Community,

It is with mixed emotions I am announcing this will be Rise Run Retreat’s last year.

In June of 2022, after sustaining Rise Run Retreat (and my family) through the pandemic, I was faced with a decision to bring things to an end or to give one last best effort. I decided to go all in.

I invested in a brand re-fresh. I added more retreats to accommodate the demand I saw in our waitlists. I started working with two business mentors to help write a five-year growth plan that would help grow the company and sustain my family. On paper, it looked great. I gathered up my remaining energy and poured it into executing the plan.

The problem with being persistent and gritty is that you often don’t know when to stop. This has happened on more than one occasion in my life. I’ve been so focused on ‘hard-working’ my way through resistance, with such a narrow vision, that I’ve missed the fact that the people around me and my own physical body are paying the price.

A series of closed doors and a lot of external and internal resistance have led me to the decision that, after eight years with Rise Run Retreat, it is time to move on. These decisions are never easy, because quitting something can often feel like a failure–especially if it is something you’ve built.

To end this year well, I am pairing down the original schedule to just two remaining retreats:

The Spring Retreat May 19-21, in Woodstock, Vermont (9 spots remaining, registration has been extended to May 1st)

The Trail Running Clinic on June 3rd in Brookfield, New Hampshire

The Fall Retreat September 21-24 in Kennebunkport, Maine (6 spots remaining, registration closes August 1st)

I don’t really know if this is a pause or an end-end. What I do know is that my goal is to end well, to make the remaining events this year a celebration of all Rise Run Retreat has been and done over the past eight years.

My hope is that you will join me in celebrating.

Best,

Sarah Canney
