Rise Run Retreat Spring Retreat Recap: Meaningful Connections, Movement, and a More Gentle Journey

The Rise Run Retreat Women's Running Retreat Spring Retreat in Woodstock, Vermont was a transformative experience that celebrated the power of meaningful connections, and movement. Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Green Mountains, we were invited into a conversation about our relationship, as runners, with the idea of ambition and rest. From invigorating runs through the charming Village of Woodstock to reflective discussions and yoga sessions, the retreat offered a physical and mental reset for everyone there.

Connecting through Running:

The retreat started with a Welcome Reception sponsored by our brand partners, Cabot Cheese and Athletic Brewing. The warm evening allowed everyone to gather outside as the sun set behind the green hills. Co-hosts, Sarah Canney and Annie Wagoner invited everyone to set intentions for the weekend and share about themselves.

We greeted the next morning with BUBS Coffee and Collagen in hand and fueled with 88 Acres before heading out for an easy run through the picturesque Village of Woodstock. Everyone laced up their new PUMA ForeverRun shoes and donned our t-shirts and Train Fit Run Shorts before heading out. Running coach, Kim Nedeau led the group through a dynamic warm-up, providing insight and suggestions for each of the attendees regarding their running routine. Out on the run, attendees were passed by covered bridges, vibrant tulips, and blooming trees. The beauty of the natural surroundings set the stage for a transformative weekend.

We cleaned up after the run with Ursa Major’s Essential Face Wipes, which not only smelled amazing but were the perfect cool-down on a surprisingly humid morning.

Yoga and Movement:

Led by the talented Annie Wagoner, yoga sessions at the retreat provided a harmonious balance between gentle Vinyasa Flow and pre-bedtime Yin Yoga. Participants embraced the connection between their bodies and minds, finding solace in the soothing rhythms of their breath and the gentle flow of their movements. For runners who are chronically tight, this provided a welcome release and change of pace.

Discussions and Journaling:

Later in the afternoon, host Sarah Canney skillfully led thought-provoking discussions and journaling sessions that delved into the dance between radical rest and ambition. Through introspection and sharing personal stories, we discovered how to make our journeys more gentle, embracing the "what if's" of ease and self-nourishment. Sarah encouraged participants to consider how our constant ‘striving’ can sometimes lead us to exhaustion and burnout, and how leaning into a more restful approach can still bring us to our goals, but with less personal cost (in the form of stress and burnout).

Nourishing the Body and Mind:

The retreat emphasized the importance of holistic wellness, and this extended to the nourishing food provided. The delicious meals, made with love and care, included products from brand sponsors such as Momentous for post-run recovery, LMNT for hydration, and BUBS Collagen and Coffee for a revitalizing start to the day. Attendees were nourished from the inside out, supporting their physical and mental well-being.

We also welcomed OOFOS rep, Collette who gave each attendee a pair of OOFOS Recovery Sandals and talked about the technology behind the foam and how it is specifically designed to support runners as they recover from training or injury.

Nature's Grand Finale:

The retreat's final day featured a breathtaking morning hike that rewarded participants with sweeping views of the valley and the majestic Green Mountains. At the summit, Annie Wagoner led a powerful breathwork practice, allowing attendees to savor the moment and integrate the entire retreat experience.

Major Takeaways:

By allowing themselves to explore the positive "what if's" and choosing to nourish and be gentle with themselves, participants discovered a transformative shift in their mindset. They learned that ambition need not come at the cost of self-care and that the journey can be made more gentle, resulting in greater fulfillment and joy.
